Union Yoga offered free classes to celebrate the studio opening

MONTEREY, Calif.— Union Yoga, Monterey’s newest yoga studio, invites the community to free yoga classes from Sept. 12-18. To celebrate their opening, Union Yoga is offering all scheduled classes free of charge at their downtown Monterey studio located at 244 Pearl Street in Monterey. Spaces are limited so please register early to guarantee your spot. You can find the schedule and and register for classes at

Union Yoga is the only infrared heated yoga studio in the Monterey Bay. Unlike the hot, humid air in many heated yoga classes, infrared heat gently and deeply warms the body, offering many health benefits. Classes include vinyasa flow, yin yoga, prenatal yoga, Pilates mat and meditation. All Union Yoga teachers are highly trained, coming from places like Kripalu, Mount Madonna and Esalen Institute in Big Sur.

“I am excited to open our doors and show the Monterey community what Union Yoga is all about,” says Kelli Nairn, owner and teacher at Union Yoga. “We are a gathering of the Central Coast’s most experienced yoga teachers uniting over a love of smart, thoughtful, deep and sometimes sweaty yoga and Pilates with the purpose of developing a strong yoga community in Monterey.”

In addition to traditional vinyasa classes, Union Yoga is planning to offer:

  • “Intro to Yoga for Men” for beginners, cyclists, golfers, construction workers, and men who think they’re not flexible enough for yoga
  • A “Bring the Babes” class for parents and children to co-practice
  • Prenatal yoga
  • Regular “Yoga 101” classes to introduce concepts and poses
  • Esalen massage in a private studio massage room
  • A retail shop of yoga goods, including men’s and women’s Manduka clothing and supplies
  • Workshops with American Sanskrit Institute, Mindful Spine and Nichol Chase

Union Yoga is Monterey’s premier yoga studio offering deep, mindful classes and Esalen massage. Located in downtown Monterey at 244 Pearl St., Union Yoga offers a variety of yoga and Pilates classes for beginners through advanced students. In 2007, Kelli Nairn discovered alignment vinyasa yoga and it forever changed her life. She completed her first 500 hours of training at Saraswati/SYJ Yoga in Norwalk, Connecticut. and is now enrolled in 300 hours with Noah Maze at Wanderlust Hollywood. She also studied yoga psychology and somatic therapy to support those experiencing depression, anxiety and PTSD. Her passions include anatomy, the rich philosophy of yoga and using yoga to treat physical and mental ailments.

A Washington State native who lived back East for 12 years, came home. She transferred within GE from Connecticut back to California. Once here, she realized she needed to follow her dharma and pursue yoga full time. While in Monterey, she searched for her yoga kula (community) and found others were looking as well. This led her to make Monterey home and open Union Yoga. She is joined by her partner Pete, a professor and San Diego native, and their dogs, Buddy and Oliver.
